THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
INTRODUCTION
Today’s generation, computer has become a way of life. It is noticeable that in most medical clinic facilities, daily transactions particularly booking are still done on paper. We know that clinics operate at a great pace striving to serve as many patients as possible. But as the years rolled by, the number of patients has grown that the manual method of booking an appointment is no longer practical.
In this study, the researchers aim to develop a fully automated, user-friendly and time efficient web-based system that will minimize paper works, allowing the clinic’s staff comfort and ease in keeping tracks of the appointment.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
A medical clinic is primarily concerned to the diagnosis and care of patients. Basically, patients spend a substantial amount of time in clinics waiting for services to be delivered by the doctor. The degree to which the patients are satisfied with the care received is relative not only to the doctors’ expertise in their field, but also to the quality of the clinic management. And we all know that as the number of patients continually increase, managing a clinic can also become increasingly difficult, especially if everything is done manually.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
General Objective
The general objective of this study is to design and develop an online clinic booking system for Letran Manila that will help doctors and other clinic staffs save time with the automation of its daily clinic operations, particularly booking an appointment.
Specific Objective
1. To computerize records of patients
2. To automate the booking of appointments
3. To develop a system that is user friendly for the staffs of the clinic, designing a simple and clean user interface
4. Evaluate the system’s functionality, usability, reliability, efficiency, maintainability and portability.
