1. She is part of a work team because they are all working towards the same goal. A group consists of workers who are doing different tasks to achieve their specific job function, but with a work team they are all working towards the betterment of the company and that really unites them and helps the company as a whole. They are all team players working towards that common goal of success for the company.

2. Nikki was able to become a member of Holden’s work team because of the advancements in how the processes were done as well as how the team realized the need for new ideas and new people to work for them. They were able to use emails and other forms of communication to connect with each other and then eventually Nikki was able to move from freelancing to being a part of the team because of the advancements that Holden Outerwear had made as well as her success at designing the new line of clothes.

3. One main disadvantage for teams at Holden Outerwear is that the apparel designer teams might have an amazing idea that ultimately is not what the company is looking for in terms of design. They could make an amazing product, but if it doesn’t match what the company or the head designer is looking to produce then it could be a waste. There might be a lack of communication with teams and it could promote “groups” instead of “work teams”. Managers can help to avoid these possible problems by maintaining a healthy level of communication throughout the design process. If the teams are allowed to consult each other and work together and know the end goal as a company then that would eliminate a majority of the potential issues.
