The company that I work for, has both a sexual harassment policy as well as a general harassment policy.

Summary of Sexual Harassment Policy/General Harassment Policy

Company employees are expected to comply with all Codes of Conduct, company policies and procedures, and applicable laws. This is in support of the company commitment to provide the best working conditions for the employees. The commitment that the company has to provide a hostile free work environment is evidenced in the policies and processes that are in place to address behavioral expectations of the employees. Specifically, the policy that addresses sexual harassment as it applies to all employees. The policy extends to all employees, applicants, contractors, and consultants performing work for this company. It also includes visitors, vendors and all other nonemployees in any company work place. Each of the aforementioned are prohibited from engaging in any behavior of a sexual nature, whether physical, verbal, or visual, that may be offensive to anyone or that may interfere with the performance of anyone’s job. A few of the examples that may constitute sexual harassment are, but are not limited to are:

a) Unwelcome sexual flirtations, advances or propositions;

b) Requests or pressure for sexual favors or to attend venues or events involving entertainment of a sexual nature;

c) Jokes, stories, electronic mail or verbal abuse of a sexual nature;

d) Comments about a person’s body or about a person’s sexual activities, deficiencies or prowess;

e) Sexually explicit, offensive or degrading words used to describe a person;

f) Cornering, leering, whistling, brushing against the body or other suggestive or insulting comments or gestures, or unnecessary physical contact; or

g) The display in the workplace, while on the job or at a company function, of sexually suggestive objects, pictures or cartoons.
