The Pursuit of Happiness

After struggling with depression in a mental hospital, Hunter "Patch" Adams realizes that he wants to help people by becoming a doctor.  He enrolls at Virginia Medical University but does not agree how the doctors in the school view the clinical perspective on patient care.  One example is how he views the way of life when it comes to patients and how he uses his methods to help them. Second example is when Adam opens his own medical clinic for those without insurance. The third example of how when he forms a bond with one medical student Carin fisher, a tragedy happens that causes him to re-evaluate his approach.

Something interesting that I noticed in the movie was when Adam goes out to the hospital without permission and pretends that he is in the third year of graduate school and sees how the doctors communicate with the patients. What I taught that was interesting is that the doctor did not act with very good professional qualities and skills because he didn’t told the medical students that she was very ill she was going to have her leg amputated that was not the right way to communicate with his patient, she didn’t even know about and she looked scared. Than when Adam said a simple question to the doctor what is her name? He didn’t even know what the patients name was until he had to double check. His professional attitude and behavior was horrible. The doctor invaded the privacy of the lady. Adam said hello with optimism and the lady body language changed. I love how Adam “patch” he keeps going to the hospital without getting paid in his own hours just to give joy and happiness to many patients. Many children that had cancer would have so much until they would see him because he had personal attributes like showing enthusiasm, optimism, patience, dedication to public services. To every patient that he helped he would treat them with advocacy.
