A Study of Worldviews: Biblical Vs Islamic

The goal of Apologetics is to give the Christian the tools needed to understand and convey the message of Jesus Christ. In order to better defend these truths, a true understanding of other worldviews would be an excellent starting point. The Muslim worldview is very different from the Christian worldview. But a deeper understanding of this view may help to bridge the gap between the two religions. If a Christian understands subjects such as the origin of man, the question of identity, the meaning of life, the difference between right and wrong, and what happens after death they will be better armed to truly spread the word of God.

The Christian worldview states that man was made in the image of God (Gen. 1:26 New International Version). This is not to say that God has a body like a man, but more to say man has some of his traits such as free will and faith. Man above all animals has the God given ability to reason and think for themselves. The Muslim worldview states that man was not made in the image of God, but from a “clay extract”, (Al-Mu’miinun 23:12 Quran) that Allah breathed life into. By this comparison the Christian worldview states that a Christian being made like God would have a closer relationship with the creator, whereas the Muslim will view Allah as an all-powerful, but unknown creator.

The idea of identity compared between Islam and Christianity seems have some common threads. Both worldviews hold man above all other creations. In the Koran we find man above all other, “And there is no creature on [or within] the earth or bird that flies with its wings except [that they are] communities like you.” (Al-'An ‘am 6:38 Quran) The same meaning can be found in the Bible in Genesis 1:26, “and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and...
