Watson Want Some Health

Health services has been largely impact by information technology especially in recent history by the use of artificial intelligence, specifically IBM’s Watson. Though already known as a one-of-a-kind super computer, Watson’s involvement with healthcare, especially the partnering with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, allowed itself to become fully integrated into health culture. Some companies such as Under Armour, Nutrino, Triax Technologies, and Talkspace have teamed with Watson to offer customers personalized athletic, nutrition, and psychological recommendations. Health institutes such as Manipal Hospitals, Boston Children’s Hospital, Mayo Clinic, and various cancer institutes have collaborated with Watson to analyze patient data in order for doctors to develop more personalized evidence-based treatment options and help further find treatment for rare diseases. The American Heart Association in particular has already teamed with Watson to implement a program that assesses both a workplace health environment as well as AHA-measured employee health in order to create workplace technology aimed at boosting heart health which has a strong correlation with job satisfaction.

For Watson to be integrated into health culture is a needed relationship. Up until recent history, evaluations of health concerns have been on a general basis, meaning recommendations, treatments, and cures are based upon the vast majority of cases that deal with that particular health concern. However, most people is not everybody. Everybody is unique, therefore the same recommendation, treatment, and cure cannot be successfully used on everyone.
