Watercolor Made of Rose Petal (Investigatory Project)

¤ABSTRACT¤

The study aimed to produce a watercolor by using a natural rose petals. The results suggested that the rose petals were indeed effective for substitute commercial watercolor. The procedures performed in the experiment are collecting, boiling, separating or straining, molding and drying.

Three different trials are done in the experiment to check if the rose petals are really can be an alternative ingredient in making a cheap but a useable watercolor. In first trial the researcher tried to mix the extracted rose petals which is color red because we used the dark red rose, to a small container which is filled of dissolved white cement. After mixing and stirring it, we noticed that the solution became a light pink color’ because we put more dissolved white cement rather than the extracted rose petals. So, we guessed it was not successful. In the second trial, instead of putting more white cement in the container, the researcher put more extracted rose petals in the container. After mixing and stirring, the researcher transferred the mixture to the molder and brought to a dry and low temperature area of the room. After a day’ the researcher figured out that it was more colorful rather than the first trial. In the third trial we used same amount of white cement and extracted rose petals, and the result was partly successful.

¤INTRODUCTION¤

Flowering plants is a suggested by the researcher as an effective substitute in a commercial rose (rosa berberifolia). Rural folk uses it’s leaves and petals as creative color. Specially the petals of the rose have a big potential in making different colors according to the color of it’s petals.

Rose petals (rosa berberifolia) is composed of calyx and corolla that is needed in making natural water color.
