1. Why do you think the cinema has risen as one of the most popular and powerful means of mass communication today? Support your answer by giving specific example.

* Cinema can communicate and express to a large number of people and it has risen as one of the most popular and powerful means of mass communication before and also today. Movie Theatre are the important commercials center from Aparri to Jollo. On that time Nora Aunor has become national figure and tagalog has risen as national language. When watching cinema it can also give the large number of people an advice or make them inspired based on what the protagonist did on the story. Cinema holds many special and fond memories for a person. It invokes an emotional connection through the visual and moving objects and it has entertained people for more than a years.

2. Explain the following:

* Maganda ang Maputi (White is Beautiful)

* Its value popularized and perpetuated during the Spanish and American times. They shape the native’s notion of aesthetics through championing mestizos and meztizas in their drama because white was beautiful and brown was ugly. The mestizos and mestizas got the lead roles while the native-looking ones was end-up as comedians or kontrabidas. At this moment the standard of beauty are (1) matangos ilong (2) malaking mata (3) Maliit ang bibig (4) Maputing Balat. So that some of the Filipinos undergo surgery to match Caucasian features. The wrong of this value is that it gives more importance on the physical beauty rather than the one’s dignity.And for me, it is not based on what color of your skin, that every Filipino is beautiful.
