Pursuit of Happiness

Considering the many different types of individuals in the world today, one may define the pursuit of happiness much different than another. As a country, American citizens have one thing in common that cannot be lost within the modern day society that engulfs culture; that is history. Americans have a historical background that is deeply engraved within the height of their skyscrapers and in the emerald green blades of their grass. To be happy was to pursue something, anything that represented growth.

According to the American emphasis on the pursuit of happiness, one should not ever settle for a day’s worth of success because there will always be something better. The glass that is to be happiness will forever be half full, because the joy of living is just the half of it. Within whichever way the individual chooses to pursue happiness, they will forever be on the pursuit to reach higher. In recognizing the endless possibilities it is very important to also recognize that happiness will not just come to you. The pursuit of happiness is just as it states, a pursuit. One must chase happiness in the form of building, discovery and self-establishment all the while measuring their contribution to the land. All of these things represent the true American pursuit of happiness.

In today’s culture, the pursuit of happiness has changed the colors of its feathers. The ultimate pursuit of happiness has a finish line that is known as wealth. Sadly, due to the series of unfortunate events that bind some Americans, the pursuit ends in deficit as they fall short of what it takes to run the marathon. Those that are able to continue chasing are often stopped in their tracks as well due to the greed that covers the surface of our businesses and political houses.
