STUDY OPPORTUNITIES & SELECTION NORMS
ENGINEERING UNIVERSITY STUDIES
STUDENT ENGINEER
Applications are awaited from persons interested in enrolling for a BSc Engineering or a BEng degree
in one of the following fields of study:
● Mechanical
● Electronic
● Industrial
Minimum requirements:
To be considered you must comply with the following requirements:
● Be a SA citizen
● Not older than 22 years (when training commenses)
● Preferably single
● No record of a serious criminal offence
● Completed/will be completing Grade 12 during 2005 with full matriculation exemption and an average C
symbol (at least a C symbol for Mathematics and Physical Science on HG)
● Comply with medical fitness requirements
● Be recommended by a Military Selection Board
All Engineering students will be subjected to:
● Basic Military Training (commencing January 2006)
● Basic Technical Training
● Officers Formative Training
● An Academic Orientation Programme and university degree studies. (Commencing January 2007)
Engineering studies will be conducted at either the University of Pretoria or Stellenbosch.
MILITARY SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME FOR
APPRENTICES
Applications are awaited from technically minded persons interested in completing an
Apprenticeship Training Programme in the following categories:
● Mechanical trade
● Electronic trade
● Electrical trade
● General Support trade
Training involves:
● Basic Military Training
● School Block (Ekurhuleni South College)
● Workshop orientation
● Trade theory and practical
● Squadron, Unit and Depot Training
● Qualifications exams
Minimum requirements:
To be considered for an Apprenticeship in the SA Air Force you must comply with the following requirements:
● Be a SA citizen
● Between the age of 18-22 years
● Preferably single
● Grade 12 with Mathematics as a passed subject or N3 with two languages on Grade 12 level as passed
