Leading the Future Scholarship

“What steps have you taken to prepare for your future and/or help others prepare for theirs?”

Eligibility

* All applicants must be US residents.

* Applicants must be high school seniors or college students and planning to attend or already attending an accredited undergraduate institution.

* The scholarship is not available to graduate students.

Documentation of your attendance or enrollment at an accredited undergraduate institution may be required.

A significant thing that I am determined to change is my future. I am trying to create one where I would be successful and where I could live happily; without any stress for myself or for those around me. I have decided there are two things I need to follow in order to achieve this goal of mine; one is to not only plan out my future, but to always be appreciative and grateful for what I have with all that I have ever received.

Starting out freshman year of high school, I didn’t really know what I wanted to be or what I wanted to do with my life afterwards. A significant spark that ignited my interest in my future was when I met with an Air Force recruiting officer. I started chatting with him and came up with the conclusion that I wanted to achieve my dream of becoming a pilot and serving my country. I wanted to change my future for the better and become a well-rounded person by challenging myself.

One of my main priorities is to change myself for the better constantly. This can range anywhere from learning something new to making new friends. Another key element in my life is to strive after my goals, one step at a time and to make progress on them no matter what. My first step is to successfully complete higher education and I am in the process of getting a degree in computer engineering. For the time being I am attending College of Dupage but will be transferring to University of Illinois in Chicago. I...
