My Most Memorable Christmas Ever

My most memorable Christmas was in 1991. I can almost remember like it was yesterday. It was Christmas day I was three years old and had received dozens of Christmas presents. I received Malibu Barbie, A Barbie Dream home which was all pink, and then a Sesmestreet Big Bird stuffed animal with the retractable draw string that would pull out it would talk. I had gotten a little red radio flyer wagon. I had received just about every latest toy and outfits that year. Neon colors were in style back then so I had received dozens of neon colored outfits with matching tights, socks, and hair bows, and matching accessories. I can honestly say that I got all that I wanted that year, but would have never imagined the ultimate, long lasting gift that I would receive later on that day.

“Ashley, you have one more present at grandmas.” My dad said. “Get your coat on so we can go.”

“Okay” I said. I really didn’t understand what was going on. Why did we have to go to grandma’s house for my present? Why wasn’t this present here. What possibly could it be, I had received all the toy that man made. So I get my coat on and hop in my dad’s light blue El Camino truck. Then off the grandmas we went. “Daddy what is it?”

“You’ll see.” My dad replied.

“Is it a hot pink Barbie car?” I asked.

“No,” said Dad.

I “Is it a Barbie dream house?”, I asked.

“You are going to have to be patient and wait, you will find out when we get to grandmas” Dad replied again.

We finally made it over to grandmas. Grandma lived only five miles away for where we stayed. But the ride seemed like an hour ride. We knock on the door. Grandma immediately answers the door has if she had been expecting us.

“Merry Christmas!!!” grandma yelled and then gave me a big hug and a kiss.

“Merry Christmas Grandma.” I replied “Santa gave me four different Barbie’s, little mermaid doll and Legos…”

“I see Santa was good to you this year,” Grandma said
