Information technology (IT) refers to the development, implementation, and maintenance of computer hardware, software, networks and communications that are used to manage electronic information (Dictionary.com). Examples of IT in the workplace range from operating systems such as Windows and Linux, to storage devices, CDs, DVDs, hard drive to Printers, Scanners, and Photocopiers to Telephones. These technological tools are essential for the facilitation of information systems, and provide the frame with which the organisation and Stakeholders (Staff, Shareholders, Investors, Auditors, Customers etc.) can relate to produce effective results. The use of laptop through an internet service provider to send email messages or make internet call is a good example of Information Technology. Ten years ago internet calls were not as rampant as it is today. With a smart phone, one can send emails, make internet calls, record and video, connect to social media and at the same time share the information to the public.
