INTERPRETATION PROJECT 1

Step 1: What is the central message of each episode? |

Matt 24:36–44 | Matt 24:45–51 | Matt 25:1–13 |

* Unknown day or hour of the coming of Christ, so one must live a righteous life at all times. * Readiness * Reference to Noah * Judgement | * Be faithful and diligent in everything * Watchfulness * Love one another | * Be prepared for Christ at all times. Do not depend on others to make it into the kingdom of God. * Discipleship |

Step 2: What is the gospel writer trying to communicate to his readers by the way he connects the three stories together? |

Matt 24:36–44; Matt 24:45–51; Matt 25:1–13 |

Jesus is trying to tell his audience that if they desire to go into the kigdom of God, and they desire to live an eternal life, then they must live righteous lives. They must be diligent and faithful in their walk as Christians. Jesus constantly mentions to his audience to be watchful. I believe the reason to why Christ emphasis on this is because at times we get caught up with our heart desires and the things of this world that we miss the true purpose to why we are on this earth. Christ is telling us that we should maintain our focus and not get distracted.Sudden and unexpected act of God in reference to noah’s day. Coming of Christ shall be the same as a divine act. Live each day as though it may be the last. Faithful and wise servants will be given greater responsibilities in heaven and more blessings than what they had on earth. Use your gifts to do your duties and fulfill your responsibilities(Matt. 24:46-47). Don’t be unfaithful and overestimate the coming of Christ as the servant did in verse 48. Do not be selfish. Living in sin takes a stronghold of our lives. Do not live for pleasure and entertainment because life is short and we do not have as much time as we may think we have. |

Step 3-Application: How do we apply the message of these gospel stories to our lives today? |
