Article 2: Managing Moral Excellence

The article I read was about Bill Gates. Billionaire Philanthropist whose whole goal in life is to improve the world. Bill Gates newest project is to get clean water into underdeveloped countries, through siphoning it out of manure. This is just one of many products set up by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation. “Humanity’s greatest advances are not in its discoveries, but in how those discoveries are applied to reduce inequity.” (Bill Gates.) Mr. Gates, in this quote, is saying that there has been many advances in technology over the years: But some countries are still struggling with getting clean water, or producing enough food for its people. This goes hand in hand with Moral Excellence, because Mr. Gates could just be a corporate fatcat who just worries about the bottom line. Overall Mr. Gates, is not the CEO of Microsoft anymore. But with his generous contributions to the world, people still look at Microsoft as a responsible Social entity. With Bill Gates doing all this good for the world, many other corporations/Billionaires have joined on his quest. Owner of Virgin Mobile, Richard Branson, credits Bill Gates for getting involved with the world. Now this article talks about Moral Excellence from a Billionaire perspective, but it can be shrunk down to a day to day level as well. A company that acts ethically/moral in its transactions is more likely to succeed than one that is not.
