Firstly, Tata Power is a well-established company grew through expansion and product diversification.
Secondly, TPC as one of the most respected organizations in the world had been award the “Civic Award” for social development in recognition of its projects along with environmental protection.
Thirdly, TPC worked on triple bottom line approach for any CSR activity. So any activity it takes up under social responsibility should add economic value, environmental causes and some social activities.
Tata Company has an active volunteering program and it encouraged more than 11,500 registered volunteers in 20 companies to devote 150,000 man-hour to volunteering. Company also developed software and other mechanisms to track the contribution of employee voluntary towards CSR activities. The employees were also motivated by involving in such kinds of social causes,
Tewaki had worked in the department of Policy Ecology and as VP of Global Alliance for Disaster reduction (GADR). TPC hired the person who is very passionate about the social responsibility and had many relevant experiences in different fields and projects.

Since TPC is mostly in coal-based plants, its power generation activities were one of the major sources of pollution and contributed a quarter of all carbon emissions globally issues such as air pollution and waste generation. The huge amount of carbon emission had a direct impact on its ecology which against the sustainability.
