There is a debate within psychology where a person's particular aspect of behavior are a product of either inherited(genetic) or acquired learned characteristics. The debate I will discussing in the paper is called nature vs nurture. The nature aspect of this debate deals with what we think of as perceiving and is influenced by genetic inheritance and other biological factors. The nurture aspect of this debate deals with the influence of external factors after conception, the product of exposure , experience, and learning of an individual. The nature vs nurture debate is concerned with the culture contribution that both relative contribution that both influences make to human behavior.

I found a few studies that studied the effects of violent video games on children. Entertainment Software Association performed a 10 year study on violent video games effects of violent video games on children and if these types of video games make children violent. In 1996, there were 2 million violent crimes in the US in which during that time there were about 2.5 billion sales of violent video games. In 2007, there were 9.5 billion violent video games were sold yet violent crimes decreased to 1.5 million. In another study " Video Games and Moral Panic" by Adam Thierer discussed violent video games with youth violence. This study didn't include school fights because school fights have been around since the creation of the educational system. Violent crimes that this study considered were arrests, charges, shootings, and other crimes. In 1996, there were 75 million video games were sold and there were 40 million violent crimes were committed around the country. In 2005, there were 225 million violent video games sold and there were 16.5 million violence crimes in the US.

Some parents might argue the most popular video games are violent and not necessary in a child's life as it exposes the child to all sorts of violent behaviors. While there are popular violent...
