1. The firm should go about identifying hazardous conditions by keen observation from supervisors and managers within the work space. In doing so they must follow critical steps in order to catch these hazards. Step 1 look for hazards. Step 2 Decide who might be harmed, and how. Step 3 evaluate the risks and decide whether existing precautions are adequate or more should be done. Step 4 Record the significant findings. Step 5 review the assessment and revise it if necessary. By following these steps hazardous conditions may be more easily recognized.

At least 10 hazardous possible dry-cleaning store hazardous conditions include:

* Slippery conditions

* Chemical vapors may be inhaled

* Working at high temperatures

* Boilover

* Not wearing safety goggles

* Hydrofluoric acid is not used under safe circumstances

* Working in small spaces with high power machines

* Still residues (sludge)

* Discarded chemicals

* Solvents and cleaning products that will not be disposed of properly

* Spill debris containing solvents

2. Setting up a procedure for screening out accident-prone individuals could be deemed discriminatory. As stated Carter Cleaning Company is a small dry cleaning business that could not afford the possibility of a discrimination law suit. Most employees are not accident prone just unfortunate to have accidents. However if Carter Cleaning Company should choose to screen potential employees this can be done by doing a personality tests which is used to screen candidates having accidental tendencies. A test called personnel selection inventory is popular to assess safety consciousness.
