Background
You have just been selected as the new business consultant for a well-established, medium-sized accounting firm. The firm is called the Integrated Accounting Partnership (IAP). It appears to you that the business is beginning to stagnate due to older clients retiring or closing and few new clients being contracted. You see an opportunity to expand and renew this firm through a web presence. You casually mentioned this idea to one of the partners who expressed a great deal of interest. The senior partner has asked you to further develop, report on and present some ideas to all of the other senior partners.
The firm currently has desktop PC’s and a small Windows server. Client information data storage is done on local workstations. There are no facilities for the accounting staff to visit clients and update information remotely. You know there are a lot of new small businesses being started up throughout the surrounding geographic area. These businesses are potential new clients.
