Outline

* Introduction

a. What is global warming?

b. Increase in temperatures: Hottest year in record was 2005

c. Cause: greenhouse gases made by humans

* Proof 1

a. Heat trapped in the atmosphere is causing the Earth to warm up

b. According to climatologists, the important factor in the change in climate is carbon dioxide. They theorize that the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere keep the heat trapped. It causes the Earth to heat up when it should also be releasing some heat.

c. Even though the Earth’s temperature would decrease without the greenhouse gases, the amount of it that is trapped would continue to heat up the atmosphere. That much trapped gas comes from humans.

* Proof 2

a. Earth’s natural processes destroy and create gases such as carbon dioxide.

b. More than two hundred billion metric tons of carbon dioxide are taken in and let out just by the greenery of the Earth. Seven hundred billion more metric tons are added due to human activities alone. Chopping down forests does not help due to the fact that the vegetation absorbs that carbon dioxide. All that excess CO2 remains in the atmosphere.

c. However, the point that comes from this is that many people do not realize that global warming is indeed happening.

* Proof 3

a. Everyone seems to have something to say regarding global warming but nothing productive is done about it.

b. Through polls and surveys taken recently within the past three years, the public understand what is happening. However, it does not seem to be a crisis that needs immediate attention. Major weather events would show the people that the changes in the climate prove to be a threat to humanity and the world. For example in the past year where Hurricane Irene and Sandy occurred.

c. With all these facts right in front of the people’s faces, it would not hurt to work together to combat this worldly occurrence.

* Conclusion

a. Humans creating...
