Problems identified with SMILE:

After the interaction with the staff and administration of SMILE care center, our group has identified a few problems that the organization needs to overcome.

Firstly, though they render selfless help for the betterment of the affected people, there is not enough publicity for the organization. Currently, the only mode of publicity is word-of-mouth. The staff and administration, through their personal contacts, spread the news about SMILE center. The purview of this publicity is very limited and they need better means of publicity.

Secondly, the main reason the center doesn’t go for media publicity is the lack of facilities at the organization. The administration wants better facilities before adding more candidates. Else, it would be difficult to train the students properly with the existing facilities and also it puts the organization in a bad light.

Thirdly, in-order to improve the existing facilities and also to meet their operational expenses, the organization is in need of more funding. Presently, the source of funding is through the donors who donate irregularly. These donations do not fully meet their requirements fully and this hinders the center from improving their state of operation. The other source of income is through the minimal fees that they get from the students. This amount is not sufficient to meet their demands. The facilities that the organization need are improved equipment to train the differently abled students, more tailoring machines, cookery items and computer systems to train the vocational 18+ students and also the parents. Their operational expenses include the high monthly rent that they pay for the building of the organization and the monthly salary for their staff. Moreover, the administration wants to build a children’s park inside the campus of the center. Again, they need funding for the construction.
