In today’s organization, technology has modernized the general functions of how the organization works. Most of the organizations’ records, official documents, and data are stored in computer based systems. These systems are operated by the employees whose actions are monitored closely as it relates to business activity. Employers make sure to enforce strict guidelines and procedures as it pertains to email use, Internet use, and privacy policies. Each company has their own standard of how employees should handle email and the Internet. Some companies are stricter on policy while other companies are more laid back and do not monitor their employees as closely. In this paper, you will read what the email use, Internet use, and privacy policies are at Aetna Insurance Company, current laws regulating employee email and Internet privacy, why companies implement email and Internet use policies and assumptions made by employees about their privacy at work and how it affects them.

Email, Internet Use, and Privacy Policies at Job

Every employer has guidelines for their employees to follow as it concerns the use of the Internet and email. At Aetna Insurance Company, any email, Internet, and business applications are only to be used for Aetna business only. For example, if the employee has a real estate business, they can not use Aetna property for their personal business. An Aetna employee may have access to personal use of the computers and other business applications depending upon what department of the company they work for. Even in those areas, there is limited use to ensure that employees are not being excessive, inappropriate, or abusive to these privileges.
