THE HELP

First and foremost, “The Help,” is a great movie, and it clearly showed how this small Town in Mississippi discriminated against blacks in the 60’s. The discrimination was to the extent that it was obvious and openly discussed. At times, it was discussed among the whites how blacks should be kept away from the white society, when it came to interact with the use of their personal restroom, as they thought that blacks would carry different diseases. The discrimination against blacks was so bad the whites believed this fallacy. In this movie, it also showed how black women were only able to work as maids or nannies and not in industries among the white society. That was also an issue that the blacks experienced back in those years. It is obvious that there was a problem with employment discrimination.

Fortunately, the black maids found someone to voice out the behavior of the whites and how excluded the blacks were from society, this is how they were heard and this type of “color” discrimination was not tolerated going forward.

Discrimination for color was much more visible back in the 60’s, especially in small southern towns, although, it still exists, is definitely not tolerated if the discrimination occurs openly and with obvious actions.
