Case Problem: Car Destination

1. The resistance of new business model of Car Destination is strong but the resistance is concerns any employee of any company should have when it comes to change. Tony, the veteran employee, uses the company Saturns misfoutune due to organizational change. Melody, the sales manager, believes Car Destination should stick to the sport of purchasing a vehicle. The customer satisfaction is great to witness. Sam, the newest member of the company, has concerns with the pay structure. The change may mean less take home money for the sales associates. These are all valid concerns and management should take them all into consideration before implementing any changes.

2. To overcome the resistance to change Doreen first should have patience. Change has to come over time. People have to digest what they are giving before making a decision that could affect their livelihood. The approach Doreen can use is some the techniques suggested in the chapter. 1. Discussion and negotiation. This allows everyone to have a voice. 2. Point out the financial benefits. Money is a great motivation tool. 3. Do not use poor performance as the reason for change. Using criticism will not help with motivating the employees to accept change. Doreen will not be able to change every employee opinion but these approaches will help with the start.

3. The “No-hassle Destination” business model has its benefits and disadvantages. The advantages of the “No-hassle” model are 1. The customer doesn’t have the stress of negotiating the price. 2. Customers are willing to engage with the sales associate feeling no pressure. The dealership will make money on the trade-ins. The disadvantages are 1. The pay structure may affect employees pay. 2.
