Audible.com is a seller and producer of spoken audio entertainment, information and educational programming on the Internet. On January 31st 2008, Amazon.com announced it would buy Audible. The company was founded by Donald Katz and is based in Newark, New Jersey. It was Launched in 1995 i.e. 21yrs ago. It is a Private Company. Audible operates 12 global outlets. They have 100 patents since 2008. Their Revenue is $500 million to $1 billion per year.

Audible says its mission is to unleash the power of the spoken word. They aim to bring stories to life. Audible has over 40,000 audio programs from more than 470 content providers that include leading audiobook publishers, broadcasters, entertainers, magazine and newspaper publishers, and business information providers.

According to the PC magazine, the author praised Audible.com as the best way to get fresh content on the portable players whether a Windows PC or a Mac book, finding the latest best sellers including poetry, mysteries, sci-fi and more. The author also included that, Audible.com even carry’s radio shows, newspapers, magazines and few free downloads for the people, hence rating it as the top competitor amongst Audio Feast, Doppler 1.1, iPodder 1.1 and iPodder X

Competitors: Apple.inc, Books on tapes, Nook Digital Llc are few among many competitors of media, publishing and Internet broadcasting industries. We believed that Audible has forced them to make some innovation to compete with them in each and every section of doing business.
