Do we really need Facebook?

Facebook as a social networking site is a form of social network service created to encourage social relations among people with the use of the World Wide Web. It was created to be able to connect with friends easily and more comfortably, since we are now in a generation where Internet is fast developing. We have been using Facebook, as it is part of our life. Does the Facebook still serve its original purpose, which is to motivate social relationships? I will evaluate my idea by my own experiences and from the references.

From the Participatory Marketing Network (PMN) that we know among the Age 18-24 teenagers “99 percent of this same group reports having an active profile on at least one social networking site” and the famous one that almost everyone know is Facebook. Why it is so popular? I registered an account on Facebook and see what is going to happen? First thing first, it only cost me less than fifteen minus to add more than fifty friends, even the people that I lost contact for more than 2 years. After I finished registration process, I open up my “personal” home page. Truly, Facebook did a fantastic job that allows you to share your favorite books, TV shows, Music or blogs etc. however this is not the end, they have millions of add on games for you such as a famous game is about farming and earn money by what you get from grow your own land. Furthermore, they have other main functions that other Social Networking Site might all have such as post blog, upload the photos you have and share what you have read from other places. Now, look at my watch, I am a freshman of Facebook but I spend more than 2 hours on Facebook without notice time passed by. It is wasting time.
