Privacy Policy and Internet Use

There are so many uses for the Internet and for email in an everyday business environment. As the company gets larger and larger, it becomes more difficult to monitor the proper use of these tools by all the employees on a regular basis. As there is so much incorrect information available in the web it can be hard to distinguish between what is correct and what is incorrect information, which is important for businesses, as they don’t want to be held liable for the wrong information. Thus, a privacy policy is implemented and the email and Internet privileges are removed. It the following, we will discuss the reasons why businesses employ a privacy policy and will monitor employee Internet and email usage and how their employees would relate to that monitoring system.

At my place of employment, my company has instilled an email policy as well as an Internet policy to monitor how the employees are spending their free time. About a year ago, the lowest level employees had their external email privileges taken away and now are only able to send and receive email from their co-workers. Most employees at that time had already had the privilege of unrestricted Internet usage, which has since been revoked as well because of misuse. Only management is allowed to browse the Internet and have full external email ability while other departments are allowed to carry laptops and have free-ranging Internet abilities, so it also has to do with the line of work that one is in and how much time is required to be online in order to be successful.

Our company has also put a privacy policy into place to help protect our customers from the possibility that their information could be compromised or outsource their information to marketing companies. Part of our privacy policy states as found on...
