Liquefied natural gas is a natural gas with maximum methane (CH4) in it. The physical state of
the gas is changed into liquid form for easy transportation and storage. In the state of gas, it takes
approximately 1/600th volume. It is non-toxic, colour less, non-corrosive, and odourless gas.
When vaporized into gaseous form, freezing form and asphyxia it is hazardous.
In the process of liquefaction some components which might create problems down the line, are
removed like dust particles, helium, acid gases, heavy hydrocarbons, and water. This natural gas
is compressed into liquid form at almost atmospheric pressure with the process of reducing the
temperature almost up to -162°C. The transport pressure is set maximum at about 25 k Pa.
Liquefied natural gas has a higher volume reduction in comparison to CNG (Compressed Natural
Gas) hence the density is 2.4 times higher than compressed natural gas and 60% of diesel fuel.
Due to this it is easy to transport liquefied natural gas far destinations at low cost especially
where pipeline is not present. The transport is done with the help of special designed LNG
carriers or through road tankers which are cryogenic.

Liquefied natural gas is chiefly utilized to transport the natural gas to the market. Then it is
distributed by re-gasifying as natural gas through pipeline. Natural gas automobiles can make use
of this, even-though vehicles are commonly designed for the use of compressed natural gas.
Liquefied gas defeats quite a few political and geographical issues faced by pipelines of longdistance and it is more and more competitive for shorter distances due to its lower transportation
costs. There are four major stages of LNG value...
