In the first paragraph, the author Coontz states that the titles of many recent books reveal that the status of women has been increased, and more and more wives above their husbands, but, in fact, the status of women still under men and they are more poor. Coontz explains that status of women has been increased seemingly, but whether people see their status from the employment situation or the salary, women are still at a disadvantage. In addition, from the family, if woman has husband， even babies, they still have weak influence for economy in their family. At the end, the author discusses the male mystique and promotion of women will not causes the end of men. This is new start for women and men.

For women’s employment experience, although there almost are 40% women has full-time work, their salary are lower than men. And for Fortune’s 1000 high-end companies, CEO of women just has 4%. And with time goes by, some areas have become increasingly gender- based so that women just have small area to work. For women’s educational and financial experiences, there are many women have better grade than men, but it looks like that women choos their major because of high-salary jobs, not their interests. Compared to men, women get less return is to get high school degree, and a greater return is completed university education and obtained a bachelor's degree. In addition, in the majority of family, wife earned less than 10% of the household income.

Male mystique will lead men to ignore self-improvement, on the other hand they will sooner or later get the corresponding reward. There are 68% people think that college education is very important for men because the male mystique will be guided the bully boys to make efforts for their study, and performed well in school.
