1) The humerus is the bone of your upper arm, the bone that connects to your shoulder at the top and your elbow at the bottom. A complete fracture means that the bone was completely broken apart, it has snapped in two or more parts. The diaphysis at the epiphyseal plate is the part of the humerus closest to the shoulder. This is the place where the fracture occurred meaning the bone ending closest to the shoulder was broken separating the head of the humerus and the shaft the long part or body of the humerus apart. She broke her left arm.

2) The occipital bone is basically the back and lower portion of skull, the back of the head. It is shaped like a saucer or bowl. This bone usually protrudes away from the skull or bulges out, however she has sustained a depression fracture to this area. A depressed fracture is generally a break to this part of cranial bone that has been crushed in. Instead of the bone bulging away from the brain the break of the bone has caused it to move toward the brain (concaved inward). She broke the bone in the back of her head.

3) The vertebral column is the bones that make up your spine or back. The vertebra is a single bone of many that makes up the spinal column. The lumbar region refers to your lower back. This region particular region has 5 vertebras. She has suffered a compression fracture to the 3rd vertebra of this region. A compression fracture to this vertebra is basically a break and collapse of the bone due to excessive force being pushed down onto it. She broke her back.

4) A floating rib refers to the ribs of the rib cage that do not connect to the sternum or flat bone of the center chest. These ribs are the lowest portion of the rib cage and are also called false ribs. The rib has suffered a displaced fracture. A displaced fracture is a complete break of the bone that has left the parts that were usually joined in opposite directions of where they original were, on opposite ends of each other.
