“Proper Motion”

Learning the basic mechanics of shooting a basketball can be helpful to you in multiple ways. If you are really serious about basketball, shooting the ball in proper form can actually elevate your game and in fact can be effective. However, if you are not serious about basketball it can still be a good lesson to learn. When you have learned how to shoot a basketball properly, it will help you with staying physically fit. You would want something to motivate you if your doctor tells you that you need to exercise more often and shooting around could be a fun way to sweat when learning how to shoot properly. Some people may have thought that shooting a basketball is all about throwing and aiming it to the rim. In fact, shooting the ball in proper motion is more difficult than you may have anticipated. Believe it or not but shooting the ball, you would have to use your whole body.

When shooting the ball, the first thing you should do is make visual with the basket. Once your head and eyes are straight with the basket, now it is time for the proper hand form. Whichever hand is your dominate hand, you will need to make an “L” shape form. After making that “L” shape form, your elbows should be tucked in at all times so in a sense it is aligned with the basket. The next best step is to hold the ball with your finger tips and making sure to NEVER palm the basketball. Palming the basketball can cause your shot to be flat while not having an adequate amount of acceleration to your destine point. Almost finish with the upper part of your body, the chest and shoulders should in fact be aligned and straight on with the basket. Last but not lease, your less dominate hand will be called your guide hand. Pretty much self explanatory, your guide hand will do nothing more than to simply guide the ball to the basket.

Now your bottom half of your body is not as much information as the top part of your body but it plays a major role in shooting the basketball....
