Classroom Big Goal: Student friendly wording of the desired student year-long and long-term outcomes. From your classroom vision, how will you convey the goal, habits, and mindsets you want students leaving your classroom with by the end of the year? What is the purpose behind it? Why to you want this to be true for them? |
Big Goal: 1. 80% mastery of 8th grade objectives 2. AIMSweb score of 27 or higher (remediation) 3. QDI goal of 150 on MCT2 We will accomplish this Big Goal TOGETHER…how?-Remediation, remediation, remediation to help build confidence-interactive, information, discussion based lessons (asking what? Why? And how? Constantly – NOT GUIDING STUDENTS TO THE ANSWERS, NOT GIVING CLUES)-learning from mistakes-Exit tickets, exit tickets, exit tickets to see if they understand-student work that leads to discussion My vision last year was really all about numbers and data. I really need to focus more on qualitative progress rather than quantitative progress. I also want my students to be genuinely invested in their progress. I still will also work on making them independent and confident problem solvers. I would love for my students to be able to tell me what they believe the importance of math is at the end of the year. Finally I would like to implement purposeful remediation and review so that some of my struggling students don’t far too far behind. I want all of this for my students because they are transitioning to high school where they will no longer be looked at as children, but young adults and where the real world will no longer seem like a place in the distant future. BOTTOM LINE: My students’ can do attitude will have them confident and prepared for high school |
