If marijuana was available anywhere, anytime, by anyone the use of would affect learning, the ability to do complicated tasks, take part in physical activities/athletics, and also in general in driving. If marijuana were to be legalized everywhere in the U.S, there would be momentous negative effects. Marijuana should stay illegal because it brings in unnecessary negative effects the users would ultimately have to face in areas such as a person’s health, generally a person's learning and family

Marijuana should not be legalized in the states, because of the ramifications concerning health risks. The law involving the legalization of marijuana has drawn great attention to the the long battle of marijuana and the two sides of this drug, and whether it is either rewarding or harmful. In teenage marijuana use, there is a constant worry towards potential impact of the drugs. This may commonly be something that is ignored, but “with medical marijuana legal in nearly half the states and a narrow majority of Americans saying they favor recreational availability as well, worried medical researchers are scrambling to project the potential impact on public health issues ranging from addiction to cognition to traffic deaths.” (Sapatkin 1). Could easier access to marijuana reduce fatal car crashes? High rates of testing show that increased availability of marijuana in young adults focused in the U.S. could have a positive effect on alcohol and alcohol related deaths. However, the traffic related deaths may not be reduced in those young adults. The answer is unclear because alcohol and marijuana are directly related in this study and so each are substitutes for one another, so potential demand for both fluctuate and change based on one other.
