BRIEF HISTORY OF KENYA

Kenya is a powerhouse and the hegemony in Eastern region therefore poses a great influence in international business attracting many Direct foreign direct investment and as a power house it has giant companies that engages in international business Kenya has an area of 582 650 km², nearly equal to that of France. It has 39.1 million inhabitants, making it Africa’s 8th largest country and 36th globally. Its population includes a number of ethnic groups and is growing at a rate of around 2.8% per year. The level of urbanization is only 23%. Surrounded by Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Somalia and South Sudan, according to its foreign policy of non alignment and aggression Kenya has always kept out of conflicts involving its neighbours and acts as an area of stability in the region. Together with Uganda and Tanzania, it was a founding member of the East African Community (EAC)

On the economic front, Kenya’s growth is stable at about 7% and its GDP is estimated at $20 billion. The country is the most advanced and developed most industrialized economy in the region. According to World Bank Statistics 57% of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is generated by the services sector and 27% by industry.
