Class Expectations
Students are expected to adhere to the attendance policy stated in the current catalog. Please refrain from the use of any electronics to include cell phones and laptops during class. All assignments must be typed, double spaced and submitted in APA format at the beginning of class on the assigned due date.
Attendance of classes is a vital part of the Westwood education. Because Westwood is an accelerated program, it is virtually impossible to do well in your classes with poor attendance. In addition, consistent attendance and punctuality show dependability to prospective employers. A student who is late to class is considered to be tardy to that class. Absenteeism and accumulated tardiness may result in a grade reduction, failure of a course, or dismissal. Students who are absent from a class with 20% or more of the scheduled course hours will be withdrawn from the course.
Appeal Process: If a student is withdrawn for exceeding the 20% absence policy, the instructor will notify the student by e-mail. The student may appeal to the instructor in writing within 48 hours of receiving notification of being withdrawn.
