Self-efficacy is an inessential tool towards an individual’s success

In order to be of value and positively impact the lives of others, it is imperative to believe in yourself and know wholeheartedly that you possess all skills and knowledge that will be of great use when applying it to your professional life. At time, we may come upon stumbling blocks, which can hinder us from accomplishing a certain tasks. With faith in knowing that we can overcome such obstacle and reassurance of oneself that we are capable of conquering anything, we will then experience our desired outcome.

Albert Bandura, a Psychologist at Stanford University once stated, “people who believe that have the power to exercise some measure of control over their lives are healthier, more effective and more successful than those who lack faith in their ability to effect changes in their lives.” It has always been taught to me during childhood to believe in myself. We can agree that most of us have heard this saying repetitively growing up. So we ask the question, what does it mean to believe in myself? To me, believing is merely knowing and understanding your capabilities; to know who you are as a person and the greatness that is within you; to have faith and know that what you seek to accomplish can be achieved. We understand this when applying it to the professional aspect of our life.

When starting a job in the Human Service field, for most of us, our mission is to help enhance the life and well-being of someone else. There are various skills that will be demonstrated during your time in this field. These skills will make a difference in your life as well as the lives of others. At my current work of employment, my colleagues and I are responsible for demonstrating the following skills: empathy, communication, comprehension,
