Supply and Demand
Telecommunications play a vital role in today’s society. Everyone today utilizes telecommunications whether it be leisurely or professionally. This is considered to be one area that will have the biggest growth in demand for the 21st century. Faster connections, more content, and more services – the war for controlling the supply on this is on. Who will control the supply as demand continues to rise?
What does this mean for Comcast? There are two factors that they need to consider. Factor #1: They have a product that is high in demand. Factor #2: Controlling the supply of media, this will determine the impact of value based on the demand.
Over the next five years, the telecommunications industry is expected to grow due to rate adjustments and subscriber upgrades. “Industry Value Index (IVA), anticipates an annual growth rate of 2.8 percent over the next five years.” (Liu, 2014) Non-digital cable services are phasing out and are being replaced by premium digital cable services. With the constant changes in technology, Comcast can offer more services with better connections.
