How to Help Reduce Break In’s

and Theft

In order to help reduce break in’s neighborhood’s need to have watch groups to help in reducing this from happening.  Also by adding more streetlights to neighborhoods it would help reduce such crimes from happening. Crimes such as theft in 2005 in my county of Randolph was at 1727 according to city-data.com. I believe my thesis is a cause and effect. The reason for this is because if we can better protect neighborhoods and communities then crimes such as theft and break in’s won’t occur as frequently. My thesis will be effective because it will have facts and statistics showing the cause and what triggers certain areas to be targeted by such crimes and therefore find ways to help change it.

I will use the appeals of pathos to make my argument appealing to my audience by using information that will cause them to have emotion towards the topic. I will also use logos by siting facts and statics about the topic in order to show how this could help in lower the number in statistics of break in’s and theft. I will use ethos to show that I am credible by siting sources and using reliable sources for the facts and statistics.

The warrant of my thesis would be that if we had more streetlights and neighborhood watches that it may help in the decrease of such crimes from happening. The challenges that I might face is that in order to install more streetlights it would be costly and trying to find other methods to use. The argument I don’t think is susceptible to any logical fallacies but in order to prevent this from happening I will use qualifiers to help to avoid fallacies from happening.
