Final Case Report Form
1.) An unknown substance was present in Nelson’s blood. What was this substance and how
did it get into his blood?
The unknown substance that was present in Nelson's blood was the spider venom. It got
into his blood by binding to the Alagren pill he had taken.
2.) What evidence do you have to support this?
The Allagren prescription bottle found in his apartment.
3.) The molecular mass of the unknown substance in Nelson’s blood is 765.82 amu? Why?
Because the molecular mass of the Allagren is 167 and when subtracted from 765.82
the number is then 599, which is then the same molecular mass of the spider venom.
4.) What is the molecular mass of the allergy drug?
167 amu
5.) What is the molecular mass of the anti-venom?
599 amu
6.) The coroner says that Nelson died from peanut allergy, yet he was taking a drug for this.
Can you explain why he would still die from peanuts?
The spider toxin bonded with the chemicals of the drug for the peanut allergy, which disabled
the anti allergy drug.
7.) Did Nelson take his medication that day? Was the correct concentration of medication
present in his blood?
8.) You found an abstract on Sam’s desk. Is this evidence relevant to your solution? Why or
why not?
Yes because it contained the knowledge of the spider venom that bonded to the Allagren and
disabled the drug.
9.) How did Sam know that giving Nelson the antivenom would kill him?
Because of the paper found on Sam's desk.
10.) There were pills found in Joanna’s office. Is this evidence relevant to your solution? Why
or why not?
No.
11.) Are Joanna’s emails important evidence in support of your solution?
No.
12.) Was any of the food left at the crime-scence important evidence for your case? Why or
why not?
Yes, because on the glass of punch the unknown compound, which is identified as the spider
venom was found on the centent analysis report.
13. Who did it?
Sam...
