Introduction

Crime investigation involves several steps after which prosecution takes place. The scope of the investigation depends on the subject matter of the crime. The paper will explain how to investigate the crime in the given scenario by answering questions pertinent to the case. It will also discuss the psychological impact of such crimes as well as why people are reluctant to report.

Body

The questions I would ask Mr Smith will aim at shedding light on the nature of the business dealings between him and Mr Dume. In this regards, I would be interested in knowing the exact dates on when James Smith made the five payments of $55,000. I would also ask him the context of the conversation they had at a restaurant with Dume and both of their wives. The other question is whether Smith saw the piece of land that was going to be zoned. I would also be interested in knowing whether Dume and Smith have had previous business dealing and the perception of Smith on the credibility of Dume Real Estate Investment Corporation. After the interrogation with Mr Smith, I will expect him to provide me with any information he has about Mr Dume. These will include his phone numbers, emails, bank account numbers and any documentation pertaining to his company.

The documentation that I would collect as evidence is the bank statements showing that the total sum of $55,000 was actually transferred in Dume’s account. The other document is the tangible agreement that was entered to begin the purchasing process. I would also seek to interrogate Mr Dume after obtaining all the relevant information from Mr Smith and collecting the necessary documentation. This is because I would want to note whether the interview with Mr Dume will be in line with the information I have gathered. In this regard, I will easily notice when Mr Dume deviates from the facts I have obtained....
