An Insight into Teen Models

Just few months earlier, nothing took us aback quite so much as the craze for teen models.

The sensation of Melody, one of the models, being indecently assaulted at the Animation Fair

was not a sporadic case triggering impassioned debate and widespread calls for clampdown.

What is the big deal over them? Before putting forth my opinions, let’s probe into the

reasons for their immense success and resultant impacts in exhaustive detail.

The reasons to which the bandwagon can be ascribed are threefold. Probably the first is

the concept of globalization. Entering the 21st century given the skyrocketing advancement

of science and technology, we no longer live in a segregated world. With better access to

pornography via the Internet, there is much likelihood that many teenagers, if not all, adopt

a more positive attitude towards sex. A bonus is that Hongkongers are infused with passion

for Japanese culture. The teen models whirlwind originating from Japan, consequently,

touched down Hong Kong to cater for own needs.

It might also be noted that the economic slump plaguing the whole society accounts.

Compared with traditionally elegant models like Cathy Chau, teen models are more

appealing, not only in terms of their dynamism, but also in terms of the costs incurred In

hopes of boosting the sales under the current doldrums, firms simply have a propensity to

take on teen models for promotion.

Alongside the sluggish economy, the media is another to blame. Under cut-throat

competition, the media will always exhaust every means to blow the whistles on all deeds of

teen models in an attempt to enhance readership, making them hog the headlines of different

newspapers. It is the media bombardments that really expedite the craving.
