It focuses on all the activities required in order for a company to provide the value expected by the customers. They are lead indicators where management intervention is possible to affect customer and financial outcomes.

Operations Management – It improves asset utilization and the supply chain management.

Walmart uses RFID tags to get immediate information of their products. With this technology, it helps to provide their customers the product they are looking for, when they need it, and when ever they want it at a reasonable price. With this technology, the employee productivity and level of efficiency is increased, since it helps them to keep track of what it is in stock and what has been sold out. As well, that this information is uploaded into a data base where suppliers can have access to the information and it saves them time and money.

Customer Management – Understanding and expanding relations with their customers by innovation of new products and services.

The “relationship-building opportunities into the firm’s routine operations, the framework to develop sustainable competitive advantages in the marketplace is reinforced” (balasubramanian, Summey, Thakur, 2006, P.4). This is to create a competitive advantage against other companies. Looking at the customers needs will help the company to create a loyal and satisfaction customer environment. This will also help to keep the customers coming back for more future purchases.

Regulatory & Social – It stablishes good relations with the external stakeholders and the community.

Walmart collaborates with national initiatives dealing with economic development, hunger and nutrition, education and other important issues. Walmart helps the community by donating money to non profit organizations, but it is managed from the corporate level and distributed nation wide.
