Summary of Negotiation

The participants for this Negotiation are Taylor and Christine as the job candidate and ______________ & ____________for the employer. We are going to negotiate eight different employment benefits that are each worth different values. We currently have another offer from an equally prestigious company on the table worth 4500 points.

We should try to improve on our current employment offer of 4500 points with this new company. In order to do so we need to concentrate of the values of each of the eight negotiation points and find a target point of each. As well as a give and take value in order to improve our position in more important or more valuable benefits.

Issues

There are eight issues to negotiate and not are equally weighted. In order to accept an offer we must do better than our current offer of 4500 points. Salary and Job assignment should be our firm issues. A salary lower than $50,000 takes away points & a job assignment other than Division A takes away points. These should be firm points in the negotiation. If we are asked what salary we would like we need to start higher than $50,000 since we would like to settle there. We have a BANTA that we can fall back on so starting high should not be a worry for us. If through our questions we find out that benefits are a major part of the company’s core values we should switch to a benefit focused plan but yet try to minimize the loss of salary as much as possible. We need to get the most out of the benefits as possible. Try to stay in the middle of each benefit except for moving expenses. This is a onetime expense for the company yet it gives some of the highest points. If we can get 100% this will allow extra give in the other benefits. The other firm area should be salary. We should set a firm bottom of $48,000 otherwise the loss of points seem too great to overcome and would lead to our BANTA being a better option.
