Introduction

Mentoring is not a latest idea but nowadays is adopted by an increasing amount of companies worldwide. The popularity of mentoring stems from the reduction of training budget and it can exert positive influence on both organizations and workforce (Gudwich 2012). To be specific, staff’s skills, work productivity, employee retention and so on can be significantly improved by this method. Mentoring has dozens of definitions, but generally mentoring refers long-range relationships that happen between senior employees with vast experience and less experienced or new co-workers (Short 2014). Workplace mentoring is applied to provide career support, vocational development, and establish self-confidence as well as facilitate positive role modeling (Weinberg and Locander 2014). In terms of the mentoring types, the informal mentoring takes place more unconsciously and voluntary, while the formal mentoring involves a specific purpose and often is planned in advanced (Short 2014).
