The plan presented for Acme Manufacturing includes a detailed process to which the company will go through for the setting up of their Wide Area Network. Currently, Acme Manufacturing has six buildings in different locations, which need to be networked to be more efficient with operations. In Atlanta, Georgia, there are two buildings, one a corporate office where corporate operations, marketing, administrative staff, and accounting are staffed. The second building houses the sales and engineering teams. The distribution offices are held in Chicago, Phoenix, and New York. The last building is in China which is the plant facility.

Each of the company’s different locations will have a LAN set-up using Ethernet cables and routers. This seems appropriate for each building because this will guarantee a faster network speed and at the same time, reduce the cost of the company’s operations. The headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia will use a satellite communication system, and the plant located in China will also share this type of communication to allow them to connect to the company’s main network. This set-up will allow each one of the six Acme Manufacturing offices to be directly networked with each other to ensure the smooth flow of data transfer.
