Effective communication is critical in healthcare because a patient's life may depend on it.

Communication takes place within organizations both formally and informally. Formally through written procedures and policies and memos and informally would be what employees hear through the grapevine. All of this communication affects the organizational structure and can affect the overall flow of communication. If team members do not understand procedures or the directions that are given, the outcome could be disastrous. Therefore communication among the team is crucial to ensuring the best care for the patient ((Johnson, n.d.).

As a manger it is important to ensure that each team member has clear expectations and knows what exactly what is expected of them. However, the communication process must work both ways, team members need to know that asking questions and making suggestions is acceptable and welcomed. Doucette  (2016), "The culture of your organization is built on internal communication; this includes interpersonal relationships, training materials, newsletters, philosophical statements and policies. Your employees are happier when they are courteous and respectful of one another. They want their achievements to be recognized. When you provide sufficient instructions to your subordinates, you enable them to do their jobs effectively. When you help employees identify with your company's mission and goals, you are likelier to keep them long-term" (Internal Communication). Using these techniques every day will go a long way and people will listen when you speak along with improving office communication.

Internal and external relationships are crucial to the success of this new addition of services. External relationships would include outside stakeholders such as the media, patients, and the various regulatory agencies.
