Mission Statement

To help each athlete reach their personal goals and improve their life by teaching them the value of hard work, healthy competition and a commitment to excellence. Through high-level training and coaching strategies, I seek to inspire and guide motivated athletes to not only become better athletes but better people.

Coaching Philosophy

The most critical step in becoming an effective coach is to set an attitude that acts as the guiding principle for the training and development of an athlete or team. According to an article by Mark Guthrie, establishing a coaching philosophy is the “foundation of your program; it not only guides you and your staff, but it also sets the stage for the athletes on your team. It leads them to assume responsibility for their own actions and decisions, and it encourages them to meet the expectations that affect them as individual athletes and as an entire team” (Guthrie). My coaching philosophy consists of three components; coaching objectives, styles and values.

With my experience as a coach as well as an athlete, I have pieced together a list of objectives and examples that I feel are important for an effective coach to execute. These objectives include;

1. Making sure goals and objectives are clearly defined and reinforced.

a. The first step in preparing athletes to compete is clearly stating both goals and objectives. A firm definition will bring clarity to the tasks ahead and help motivate athletes to reach their goals. When these goals are clear and measurable, productive change can be facilitated.

2. Providing opportunities for individuals and teams to further develop and improve their skills.
