Recently, there is a hotly debated discussion whether people’s mental and physical activities are shaped by regulations. Although some people argue that there is no impact towards individual’s behaviour, I strongly believe that laws are performing its jobs in people’s daily lives.
On the one hand, laws have a function of making rules and require people to follow that. First of all, governments notice the citizens what people should not do through regulations. In following the laws, people are required to adjust their behaviour for a better social harmony. For instance, people do not play loud music and have noisy parties after 11pm since a relevant regulation comes out to protect the neighbourhood. As a result, people are likely to follow the rule and alter their behaviours. Moreover, one of the laws’ features allows regulations to be executed without negotiation. In other words, if a regulation is reasonable, any rule breakers will be asked to modify their manner, otherwise, a punishment will be followed. Eventually, people are more likely to be changed by laws.
On the other hand, some people think that laws have no effects towards people’s life. More precisely, it is commonly accepted that there are still many criminals all around the world. They break rules and follow their own schedules regardless if it’s permitted by the law or not. Although it cannot be denied that there are still many crimes, the criminal rate is decreasing in most regions of the world. Consequently, laws excel in its functions and influence the majority of people.
In summary, I agree that regulations are impacting people’s behaviour. Although there are some individuals who disobey regulations, most citizens are willing to adapt to the changes.
