I. Introduction
Globalization has managed to seep its way into almost every aspect of our lives living in a first world country. It is said as a widespread definition that “globalization is the process by which the world is becoming increasingly interconnected as a result of massively introduced trade and cultural exchange.” Over the past several decades as globalization has been becoming more of a prevalent topic and the effects of globalization on our planet are starting to build themselves up in both positive and negative ways. However, despite the positive effects on our societies there have been many more political, economic, and cultural consequences that should be taken into consideration as globalization will continue to affect our lives into the future not only for ourselves but for our descendants as well.
II. Counter Argument: The Pros of Globalization
Political elements of globalization warranted the need for organizations that can give international aid to countries that need it. Smaller countries are able to conglomerate together and gain more of a global voice. Countries are also able to learn from the victories and mistakes of other countries all around the world. Economically prices for certain products have declined because they are easier to import and export. Daniel Griswold stated in his article that “Global exports as a share of global domestic product have increased from 14 percent in 1970 to 24 percent today, and the growth of trade has consistently outpaced growth in global output.” (Griswold, 2001) Economic growth can be stimulated by gaining a greater market for a business to sell their products in. Culturally globalization has led to the spread of the arts. Foreign values and cultural events have begun to be recognized on a global level and are celebrated internationally.
