to visit families, to get to work or simply to attend school. One of the most used bus line in the Cayo North-East area of our country is the Ortega’s Bus Service. This bus organization is responsible for all students going to high school in certain places of the San Ignacio and Santa Elena Towns. The student’s bus they use is the oldest one they have, the one with a hole like the size of a football one the front side. On one of the many occasions, this bus broke down while entering San Ignacio Town, just few meters from the entrance of the San Ignacio Hospital. Luckily, that day the transportation officers were passing by the area. They carefully observed how crowded the bus was. Immediately, two of them were talking with the driver, and later came inside. He started to ask us if we liked the bus service and the bus driver. There was a complete silence. No one was daring to respond, since the owner’s son was also inside the bus somewhere. So, no one was feeling brave enough to complain about the hard situation everyone was facing. Honestly, I really wanted to speak against the reality. But at the same time I realized that if there are no buses, then all students would be affected. I lost that only opportunity I had. That was the time I lacked something which I needed to have, courage. Now I have to live with the thinking that I got coward on that day. Even though, it was my last semester at Sacred Heart College, I still felt I should have said something to help my other colleagues.. It is the government's duty to provide free transportation, and it is their moral...
